How To Create Perfect Giveaway

Giveaway Banner

As you could notice, running giveaways on social media is very popular nowadays. Usually, companies or bloggers do that to increase engagement with their audience and get new followers. That’s why popular calls to action for participating in a giveaway usually are comment or like, tag X people, share a post, and so on.

There are some pieces of software out there like Gleam.io which is specialized in hosting giveaways. Participants get tickets if they complete tasks you defined for them, for example, watch a video or follow your page. The more tickets they get, the higher the chance is for them to win.

The biggest disadvantage of this approach is that after a giveaway you have not a lot of results to show. You may get more followers and likes for your profile but that’s basically it. In the future, you can’t interact with the people who didn’t follow you and you don’t have their contact info.

Alternative way to host a giveaway

Not a lot of people know that there is another alternative way to host a giveaway which I consider much better.

The best solution for this is to use an opt-in funnel which will consist of a simple squeeze page and “Thank you” page. On the squeeze page, you show what participants of the giveaway may get as a prize and ask for their email address. That sounds fair – if they want to have a chance to win the present they need to give you their email.

Now, that’s the most important part of the whole activity because building an email list is key to further interaction and upsells. It means that after the giveaway is over you have a list of people who are interested in the product of your company.

You can send them newsletters talking about your products and promoting other items you’re selling. If you have a good copy and provide valuable content the opening rate of your emails will be high enough. From the people who opened your email, there will be a certain percentage of those who bought a product you were promoting.

How to leverage your email list

You may think: What great advantages an email list could give you? Imagine, you have a list with millions of subscribers in it. In the beginning of summer and grill season you send an email to all of them promoting a grill from Amazon with the price of $1000. For sure, not all of them will open an email, and even less will buy. But from all the purchases you may get around $100 commission which will sum up to a couple of thousands. Isn’t it a great output from one email?!

If you’re wondering which software is better to use for the funnel building, I’d definitely recommend Clickfunnels. It’s so easy to use that you’ll be able to build an opt-in funnel for a giveaway within an hour.

That said, consider using the above-described approach next time when you’ll host a giveaway.
